Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant compound which is highly concentrated in the grapes’ skin.  And with the numerous positive effects this compound can bring to one’s health, the resveratrol grape juice is being conveniently used to treat various diseases.

The juice squeezed out from dark red or dark purple grapes contains a high concentration of resveratrol.  Such drink possesses the same heart-friendly benefits that can be derived from drinking red wine.  Some of these benefits include the reduction of blood clotting risks, the prevention of damage to heart blood vessels and maintenance of a stable blood pressure.  It is also interesting to note that the same cardiovascular benefits that can be derived from red wine sans the alcohol is a good alternative resveratrol in grape juice provides.

Study findings suggest that resveratrol grape juice serves as an anti-aging serum.  Dark grape juice is found to be very beneficial in preventing and reversing aging’s negative effects on coordination, balance, short-term memory and strengths.  Taken regularly, grape juice rich with resveratrol effectively acts as the body’s natural antibiotic against stress and harmful elements.  With this protective function, it helps to prevent undesirable health conditions that go with aging and enables people to grow old gracefully.  It also gained popularity by its ability to control weight gain and obesity, and to ultimately act as the body’s defense against the onset of cancer.

The link between fruit juice consumption and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease has also been observed through a separate study.  Participants who drank juice at least three times in a week were less likely to acquire Alzheimer’s disease than those who drank on a less frequent basis.  Grape juice also has another antioxidant ingredient called flavonoids.  Flavonoids work together with resveratrol in increasing the good cholesterols and in lowering the risk of high blood pressure.

The most significant role of resveratrol grape juice to human health is its capacity
to be a natural anti-cancer agent.  Laboratory experiments show resveratrol inhibiting enzymes that synthesize nitro-oxygen radicals that may contribute in developing cancer cells.  Resveratrol also prevents the growth of tumors and speed up ‘apoptosis’ or cancer cell death.  It is also quite fortunate that such benefit can be derived not only from grape juice but also from other foods that contain resveratrol such as blackberries, pistachios and peanuts.

So next time you drink that glass of grape juice, be glad that what you are having is more than a refreshment.
